Seydi (Seyyid) Yakup is counted among the Bukharan and Khorasani dervishes who helped Turkify and Islamize Anatolia; tradition holds he descended from Seyyid Emir KĂŒlĂąlĂź and settled in Bayburt. His tomb on 'Evliya Tepe' east of Seydiyakup village, about 20 km from central Bayburt, is the village's spiritual center and is visited. (Source: Governorship of Bayburt.)
