The missionary who introduced Islam to Mindanao (the Lanao and Maguindanao regions) and is regarded as the first Sultan of Maguindanao (early 16th century). An Arab-Malay preacher of the Johor/Malacca royal house, he landed at Malabang around 1515, preached Islam to native tribes, married a local princess and founded a sultanate whose capital was Cotabato. He set his seat near the mouth of the Pulangi (Mindanao) River. Sources disagree on his burial: some traditions point to Malabang in Lanao del Sur, others to sites near Cotabato, and none is archaeologically confirmed. This uncertainty is recorded transparently, and since no verified grave coordinates exist, no map pin has been added.
