A prophet praised in the Qur'an for his patience, who maintained gratitude to God despite severe affliction. The white-domed maqam on Jabal al-Qara about 40 km northwest of Salalah (Dhofar) is a long-established ziyaret site. It must be stated clearly that this is a traditional maqam, not a verified grave: the TDV 'Eyyûb' article places his life in the Levant (Hauran / land of Uz) and makes no mention of a burial in Oman.
