A warrior (gazi) who served as a frontier lord in the retinue of the Seljuk commander Hüsâmeddin Bey; he took part in the conquest of the Çal region and founded the village of Mahmutgazi bearing his name. His square-planned tomb, transitioning to a dome via triangular pendentives, stands in the cemetery of Mahmutgazi village, Çal.
