Imam Sayyid al-Idrus was a scholar of Yemeni (Hadrami) origin who served as the chief teacher of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I of Palembang. He taught the sultan hadith, Shafi'i jurisprudence, and Naqshbandi Sufism, and helped spread Islam in the Komering region. He is buried in the first dome (cungkup 1) of the Kawah Tekurep cemetery, alongside the sultan. His exact year of death is not recorded in the sources; his grave is a regularly visited pilgrimage site.
