Hızır Bey is remembered as one of Orhan Gazi's commanders in the early Ottoman period, credited locally with a role in the Islamization of the Devrek-Özbağı area. His tomb on a hilltop in Özbağı village, Devrek district of Zonguldak, is visited locally and is a registered cultural asset.
