Heda (Kheda) is the mother of the Chechen Qadiri Sufi shaykh Kunta-Haji Kishiev; because Kunta-Haji himself died in Russian exile (Ustyuzhna) and his grave is unlocated, veneration centres on his mother's ziyarat. The Khedi-ziyart, in the village of Khazhi-Yurt (locally 'Ertan'), Vedensky District, is one of Chechnya's most important pilgrimage sites and was restored in 2009. The tradition that a nearby sacred spring sprang up when Kunta-Haji struck his staff into the earth is a devotional legend.
