A 14th-century Sufi saint, the patron saint of Sylhet, traditionally credited with leading the 1303 Muslim conquest of Sylhet and spreading Islam across northeast Bengal. Ibn Battuta, who visited him, records in his Rihla a death date of 20 Dhu al-Qa'da 746 AH (15 March 1346).
