Shaykh Raslan al-Dimashqi (d. ~1155, disputed), a Sufi of Turkmen origin born near Qal'at Ja'bar; a carpenter in Damascus known for asceticism and piety, famed for his treatise on tawhid and called the 'protector of Damascus'. He was buried in his zawiya near Bab Tuma; the Shaykh Raslan Mosque is still visited.
