A 13th-century Sufi regarded as the founder of the Sabiriyya branch of the Chishti order. Tradition holds he was the nephew and successor of Baba Farid, earning the name 'Sabir' (the patient). His dargah at Piran Kaliyar near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, is among the most venerated in India after Ajmer.
