Abu Ali al-Husayn ibn Abdullah Ibn Sina, one of the greatest scholars and philosophers of the Islamic world — physician, philosopher and scientist, author of al-Qanun fi't-Tibb and Kitab al-Shifa. He died in Hamadan in 1037. His mausoleum (Bu-Ali Sina) in Hamadan serves as a museum and library and is widely visited.
