A major Companion entrusted by the Prophet with the secret of the hypocrites; commander at the conquest of Nahavand. He died at al-Mada'in in 36/656; his mausoleum is a separate building within the Salman al-Farsi complex at Salman Pak (his old grave was moved here in 1934 due to Tigris flooding).
