Sheikh Sulayman al-Turkmani

A Mevlevi sheikh who lived in Kırşehir in the late 13th century. Records show he was among the deputies of Sultan Veled and, per his endowment deed of Muharram 697 (November 1297), founded a Mevlevi lodge in eastern Kırşehir; some scholars identify him with the poet Gülşehrî. His mud-brick tomb complex (mosque, tomb chamber and assembly room) stands in the Medrese (İmaret) quarter and contains four graves. Sheikh Ahmadi Gülşehrî

A Sufi poet and sheikh who lived in Kırşehir in the late 13th and early 14th centuries, also versed in logic, mathematics, jurisprudence and Quranic exegesis. His chief work is the Turkish Mantıku't-tayr (Gülşennâme), composed in 717 (1317) after Farid al-Din Attar; tradition holds that Sultan Veled sent him to Kırşehir to found a Mevlevi lodge. His tomb stands in central Kırşehir within the Ahmedî Gülşehrî Park that bears his name. Karakurt Baba (Kalender Baba)

The dervish/baba figure who gives his name to the Karakurt Complex (thermal bath, lodge, mosque and tomb) on the slope of Emirburnu in Karalar village, about 15-17 km west of central Kırşehir; the complex dates to the 13th-14th century and the tomb (Kalender Baba dome) to the late 15th century. The TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi states plainly that the identity of the person buried there and his dates cannot be established from sources. DISPUTED: his historicity and identity are uncertain; the site was later adopted as a Bektashi pilgrimage place.
