Prophet Noah (Hz. Nuh / Nuh Nebi) is one of the great resolute (ulu'l-azm) prophets named in the Qur'an, traditionally regarded as the second father of humanity after the Great Flood. According to widespread local tradition and the accounts of historians such as Evliya Çelebi, Kâtib Çelebi and Firûzâbâdî, after the Flood he settled in Cizre, where he is believed to have died and been buried. His tomb lies beneath a wooden cenotaph in the basement to the south of the Nuh Peygamber (Hz. Nuh) Mosque that bears his name, in the Dağkapı neighbourhood of Cizre. The structure was repaired over the centuries and most recently restored as the Nuh Nebi complex.
