A blacksmith by trade, Hasan Dede belonged to the Ma'rifiyye order (of Rifâî-Sayyâdî origin) and was initiated by Shaykh Mustafa Lütfü Efendi in İzmir. He received his authority from the Ma'rifî center in Kartal and founded the Demircialıoğlu lodge in Demirci. After his death (1284/1868) the lodge passed to his son Aliyü's-Safî.
