A Khorasani Sufi born in the village of Kharaqan north of Bastam, renowned for his ecstatic utterances (shathiyyat). He is regarded as an Uwaysi heir to the spiritual path of Bayazid al-Bistami and deeply influenced later Sufis including Attar and Rumi. He died on 10 Muharram 425 (5 December 1033).
