Born in Istanbul in 1642, Hafiz Osman was one of the greatest masters of the six scripts of Islamic calligraphy, renewing the school of Sheikh Hamdullah. He died in 1698 and was buried in the cemetery of the Sünbül Efendi Lodge in Kocamustafapaşa. (Sources: TDV; Wikipedia.)
