An early link of the Khalwati chain, he belonged to the Sufi family of Suhraward known as 'al-Bakri' for its descent from Abu Bakr; he is regarded as the father and master of Qadi Wajih al-Din Umar al-Bakri. No independent biographical record survives; his death date and grave are unknown, and his name appears in classical Khalwati silsila documents.
