A Javanese spiritual figure of the Majapahit-to-Demak transition and a disciple of Syekh Siti Jenar. He led the community of Pengging (today Banyudono, Boyolali, Central Java), living humbly among farmers and belonging to the mystical circle around Siti Jenar (id.wikipedia, "Ki Ageng Pengging"; UIN Surakarta al-ABSAH journal). Tradition holds that he was executed on charges of rebellion after refusing to pay homage at the Demak court. He was the father of Sultan Hadiwijaya (Jaka Tingkir), founder of the Pajang Kingdom. His tomb in Boyolali is a pilgrimage site; his death year is not firmly attested in the sources.
