Ahi Emir Ahmed-i Zencani came to Bayburt in the Ilkhanid period and taught at the Mahmudiye and Yakutiye madrasas, a leading scholar in the town's learning and Ahi tradition; originally from Zanjan, he settled in Bayburt in the early 1300s, was linked to the Mevlevi tradition (visited 1315 by Ulu Arif Çelebi), and later moved to Sivas. His octagonal tomb, popularly 'Kümbet', in central Bayburt's Şeyhhayran quarter is visited. (Source: Governorship of Bayburt; Eastern Black Sea Cultural Inventory.)
