Yalamlam is the ihram entry point (miqat) appointed by the Prophet ﷺ for the people of Yemen. It lies south of Mecca—sources give roughly 54–130 km depending on the route—on the northern bank of the Yalamlam (Sa'diyyah) Valley near the Sa'diyyah well; the present miqat mosque is also called As-Sa'diyyah. It is a large mosque and facility complex where pilgrims from Yemen and from the south and southeast (India, Indonesia, Malaysia), by land and sea, make their intention and enter ihram. One of the five miqats fixed by the Prophet ﷺ, it remains active today.
Visiting Etiquette
This is a miqat mosque; pilgrims intending Hajj or Umrah enter ihram here. Observe prayer times, mosque etiquette and modest dress. Consult knowledgeable scholars for the rulings of ihram.
