Qarn al-Manazil is the ihram entry point (miqat) appointed by the Prophet ﷺ for the people of Najd (and Ta'if). It is today called As-Sayl al-Kabir, on the Ta'if–Mecca road on the eastern bank of Wadi Qarn, about 80 km northeast of Mecca and 35 km north of Ta'if—the miqat nearest to Mecca. A nearby alternative point closer to Ta'if is known as Wadi Muharram. A large miqat mosque stands here where pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah make their intention and enter ihram, active with full facilities. It is among the principal miqats for the people of Najd, the Gulf states and those arriving overland from the east.
Visiting Etiquette
This is a miqat mosque; pilgrims intending Hajj or Umrah enter ihram here. Observe prayer times, mosque etiquette and modest dress. Consult knowledgeable scholars for the rulings of ihram and intention.
