Al-Ijabah Mosque is a small mosque in the Banu Mu'awiyah district of Medina, on As-Sittin Street, about 385 metres north of the Baqi cemetery and roughly 580 metres from the Prophet's Mosque. It was built on land of Mu'awiyah ibn Malik of the Aws tribe. The name 'Ijabah' (acceptance/response) derives from a well-known hadith: the Prophet prayed here and made three supplications — (1) that his community not be destroyed by famine (granted); (2) that it not be destroyed by drowning/flood (granted); (3) that internal strife not arise among them (not granted). Two of the three were accepted. NOTE: sources name it 'Masjid Bani Mu'awiyah'; the 'Banu Zafar' attribution could not be confirmed by independent sources (Banu Zafar is a separate Aws clan, raising a conflation risk) and is unverified. ALSO, Madain Project reports the mosque was demolished in late 2025; verify current status before publishing. The three-supplications tradition rests on authentic hadith collections.
Visiting Etiquette
An active mosque (verify current status given the demolition report); voluntary prayers may be offered. Modest dress, quiet conduct and ablution are expected. The 'Banu Zafar' naming is unverified; the established name is Banu Mu'awiyah.
